Privacy notice
This notice explains what SecondLook, a Local Authority service, collects when you request an HVAC quote market check or record a request for one resource and how that information is used.
Information we collect
We collect the contact and project information you submit, including your name, email, phone number, ZIP code, timing, original quote price and scope, equipment details, uploaded quote file, and consent. Project-contact consent is required to work on a market check. Educational-email consent is separate, optional, and may be withdrawn at any time. A request for one checklist email is also separate: its record contains the email address, one-time browser request key, fixed resource and evidence versions, request and consent timestamps and source, exact one-resource purpose, and opaque preference token, but not a name, quote, contractor, partner, or page history. We may also record the page, campaign parameters, search term, ad click identifier, and referring site associated with a market-check request so we can measure which acquisition produced it.
Anonymous funnel measurement
We record a random, session-scoped identifier when a visitor loads the intake, begins the form, or attempts a submission. It is used with page and campaign attribution to measure aggregate funnel performance. The identifier expires with the browser session and does not contain your name, email, phone number, or address.
Operator applications
If you apply as a service provider, we collect company and representative contact details, website, claimed license information, service area, services, capacity, response time, and application consent. We use this information to evaluate eligibility, perform diligence, discuss commercial terms, and administer a potential pilot.
How we use it
We use this information to confirm service coverage, communicate about your request, compare the submitted quote with local options, call service providers about project fit and pricing, prevent duplicate or fraudulent submissions, measure service quality, calculate savings, and improve the site. If you separately request educational emails, we may also use your email address for that stated purpose until you unsubscribe or withdraw permission. A one-resource checklist request is used only to record and manage that exact request; it does not create newsletter or recurring-email permission.
When information is shared
We may describe a qualified project to providers that serve your area. We will not give a provider your direct contact details or authorize a home visit without telling you first. We do not send your request to an open marketplace or sell your contact information for unrelated marketing. Every provider is an independent business with its own privacy practices.
Compensation
For the Phoenix HVAC pilot, there is no upfront deposit. If you choose a lower comparable quote Local Authority identifies, the pilot fee is 15% of verified savings; if no savings are realized, the fee is $0. Other services may use disclosed per-lead or partner compensation.
Uploaded quote files
Uploaded PDF and image files are stored in private object storage and are available only to the operating team for the market check. We do not publish quote files. We may describe relevant scope details to a prospective provider without sending the original document or your direct contact information unless you approve.
Retention and security
We retain request records and uploaded quote files only as long as reasonably necessary for the market check, quality review, accounting, dispute handling, and legal obligations. We use reasonable safeguards, but no online system can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You can decline to submit a request and continue using the public guides. Every educational email must provide a preferences link that records a durable educational-email suppression; project-contact messages remain limited to an active requested market check. To request access, correction, or deletion, reply to any Local Authority message you receive and identify the request involved. Some records may be retained where required for security, accounting, or legal purposes.

We may update this notice as the service changes. The date above identifies the current version.
